Power of Words

24 January 2018

27th January marks the day of the liberation in 1945 of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.  This day is for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust and in the subsequent genocides in other countries.

As part of our tutor programme this week, we will be sharing a lot of powerful information from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust with students, and will be creating a display along the Humanities corridor to mark the Holocaust remembrance.

Students will be encouraged to take part as much as they want which will include, simple tasks in their tutor groups to investigating individual life stories from survivors and creating pieces of work using the information they have obtained.

Full information is available on: http://hmd.org.uk/

Mr Ward said, “it is important to remember and learn from what has happened in the past, so that we can ensure that no atrocities like this should ever happen again”.
