Trinity High School

15 March 2018

After Trinity High School was chosen to lead the Worcs Girls Can campaign in December last year, next week will see this event happening.

On Monday of this week Kelly Lyons from the Sports Partnership, who are running this campaign, was in school taking assemblies to introduce this to all of the girls.

Next week, girls from Trinity and other feeder schools, will find their PE classes transformed as they participate in activities such as Clubbercise, Boxing, Rugby and Self Defence. A number of clubs from Redditch and the surrounding areas are supporting Trinity in delivering sessions to the girls, these include: Redditch Boxing Club, Redditch Tennis Club, Lindsey Allen Fitness, Sian Sutor Dance Studio, Redditch Self Defence and Worcester Warriors. At the end of the week, the whole school including male students are supporting the campaign, together with Sport Relief, holding a Trinity Colour Run.

Mayor Jenny Wheeler will be opening the campaign on Monday and Rachel Maclean, MP will be visiting on the final day, Friday.  Both these prominent guests will have the opportunity to see the activities taking part, meet the Sports Ambassadors of the school, and talk to the girls taking part.

Adrian Ward, Headteacher said ‘The whole school is now very excited about this campaign, my thanks to Miss Henman for her organisation, which will be a truly memorable occasion for the school.  Raising the profile of sport and exercise is essential in ensuring our young people adopt a healthy lifestyle into adulthood.  We look forward to sharing this with our community as it happens”.
