Trinity High School

20 July 2018

School will close for the summer holidays on Friday 20th July. As in previous years we will celebrate with a whole school assembly and students will then be able leave school at about 1pm. I hope you all have an enjoyable summer.

With the hot weather & approaching summer holiday please take note of this RLSS warning: The RLSS has appealed for people to take note of simple safety messages to avoid a repeat of last summer’s tragedies when many people lost their lives cooling off in unlifeguarded open water, not suitable for swimming. Around 400 people needlessly drown in the UK every year and thousands more suffer injury, some life changing, through near-drowning experiences. Putting this into context, one person dies every 20 hours in the UK and drowning is the third highest cause of accidental death of children in the UK. So, with temperatures high, it is important people make the most of the weather and enjoy the water but do so safely at sites designated for swimming.

Trinity High School PE kit: Please purchase all new PE kit from Orchard Clothing in Redditch.  'Hoodies' are not acceptable wear in lessons or around school.  Students will need to purchase the compulsory THS logo sports jacket, polo top and shorts/skort.

All students in Year 9 have been invited, in one of their recent assemblies, to take part in this summer's 'Radical Reading' photo competition and we hope you will encourage your child to take part. All the students have to do is to get someone to take a photo of them reading a book or graphic novel in an unusual or strange place, be it in their garden or on holiday, in the dentist's chair or on a rollercoaster! (These are all entries we have had in the past). First prize for the most inventive and fun picture is £50 worth of literacy prizes that the student will be able to choose themselves, and there will be prizes for two runners-up and all that submit a photo. Students have been given all the rules about staying safe whilst taking part, and we hope that as students pick up the book to take the photograph they might read and enjoy that book over the summer holidays. Students will be reminded to send in their photos to Mr Joy's official school email address in the first week back of September (no photos will be accepted by other means) and then we will pick the winners soon after having all the entries. Happy snapping!
