PARENTAL BULLETIN – 24 MAY 2019

24 May 2019

With the hot weather & approaching summer please take note of this RLSS warning: The RLSS has appealed for people to take note of simple safety messages to avoid a repeat of last summer’s tragedies when many people lost their lives cooling off in un-lifeguarded open water, not suitable for swimming.

Around 400 people needlessly drown in the UK every year and thousands more suffer injury, some life changing, through near-drowning experiences. Putting this into context, one person dies every 20 hours in the UK and drowning is the third highest cause of accidental death of children in the UK. So, with temperatures high, it is important people make the most of the weather and enjoy the water but do so safely at sites designated for swimming.

YEAR 10 FOOD AND HOSPITALITY

Students have their mock Food practical exam week commencing 10th June.  Students are choosing the dish they wish to make and will know the day of their exam - which will be either period 1 & 2 or period 3 & 4.  If there are any issues with getting ingredients for this practical please advise Mrs Cadman as soon as possible: [email protected]

YEAR 10 HEALTH AND SOCIAL

There will be catch up on Tuesday 28th May starting at 10.00am for those students that are behind in their coursework.  It will take place in Room 49 and students can come in their own clothes. This will be the last chance for students to complete any outstanding work before their grade is affected.
