Trinity High School

End Of Year 2015

18 December 2015

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

It is hard to believe that we have reached the Christmas break already, and that the longest term of the school year has drawn to a close. During this term there have been so many events and activities that have enriched the education of our students. From Advanced Learning Days to The Battlefields trip, Christmas Concert to The Trinity Careers Fayre, numerous sporting triumphs, field trips and theatre trips, the list is endless and without such a dedicated staff these opportunities would not happen.

We are bidding farewell to Mrs Thompson, Head of Science, and Miss Jones, English, who are both moving to new positions in January. I would like to thank them both for their contributions to the education of our students and wish them well in their new roles. We welcome Mr Joy who will join the English Department from January.

It is always much more important to focus on giving rather than receiving. All members of our school community should remember this at this important time of year and I am delighted and grateful to all of you who contributed to the Trinity food bank. A particular thank you to the staff and students who took time to distribute this to St. Basil’s and The Salvation Army.

I would also like to express my personal thanks and gratitude to all the staff at Trinity for keeping the school running so brilliantly in my extended absence. As you may remember from the last time I wrote to you, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer during August. During the past 7 weeks I have undergone an intense course of chemotherapy, which I am glad to say has now finished. I will be back at school in January and I look forward to seeing you all on my return.

I know that this has been a long and tiring term both for students and staff, and I hope they will all be able to relax and recharge over the Festive period. Those of you taking examinations this year will also need to find time to start some revision. The earlier this starts, the easier it is!

Due to my treatment I was unable to attend the Awards Evening this week. My thoughts were with you all on this important evening. At Trinity we try to recognise achievement in all areas, but the Awards Evening is an important event in recognising the academic triumphs, hard work and effort of students across the school. My congratulations to all of you who received prizes.

Finally, may you all have a very happy, peaceful and relaxing Christmas and New Year.

Yours sincerely

Mr A Ward
